ABOUT MICAH *
Micah Parsons has quickly established himself as one of the NFL's premier linebackers. Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on May 26, 1999, Parsons honed his skills at Penn State University.
Did you know that Micah is a self-taught chess prodigy? He credits his strategic thinking and decision-making abilities on the football field to his rigorous chess training. Renowned for his blistering speed, ferocious tackling, and knack for making game-changing plays, he has become an indispensable asset to the Cowboys' defense. He is poised to solidify his status as one of the league's most dominant defensive forces.
Parsons' impact on the field is undeniable, but what he does off the field may be even more impactful. He is the first current pro athlete to hold a leadership title at a sports media company. When he’s not playing the game, he’s talking about it on his podcast ‘The Edge with Micah Parsons.”
With a heart for giving back, Micah hopes to continue to build his legacy through the Lion Heart Foundation and support initiatives impacting youth, single moms and the military.
FOOTBALL
In high school, Parsons dominated on the field, racking up impressive stats (1,239 rushing yards, 27 rushing TDs) and played basketball too. A top recruit (#4 in his class), he committed to Penn State early after initial interest from other schools, including Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia and more. Most impressively, this three time Pro-Bowler graduated Harrisburg High School seven months early to expedite the enrollment process.
Drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Parsons burst onto the scene, earning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
giving back
Micah has been a staple in his hometown running football camps and carnivals. “This is something that means a lot to me, not just because of everything I’ve been through with the transition of coming to Harrisburg, but being able to give back to the community,” Parsons said. “I think at the end of the day, that’s what it’s about. It’s just my chance to give back.”
His desire to expand his reach is just the beginning of the ripple effect Micah hopes to create, positively impacting youth, single mothers, and the military.
